We hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing Easter Holiday!
Spring and Summer Topics
During this term, we will be learning about mini beasts, pets, the seasons, ‘May Day’, people who help us, and children’s interests.
We are arranging a ‘Pet Week’ for the week commencing Monday 15th May and we are asking if your child can bring in a photograph of their pet or pets. Also, if you have a child friendly pet and you able to bring your pet in for the last 15 minutes of the session either morning or afternoon please let a member of staff know so that we can arrange a day with you to talk to the children about the pet and how you look after it. Many thanks.
This term we are introducing Lunch Club as a pilot scheme and if it is successful then we will continue it next term. If your child is staying for lunch please provide a healthy balanced lunch including a drink (no fizzy or sweets) in a named lunch box / bag with a small ice pack to keep the contents fresh. Also, we are asking if parents make the pickup and drop off around lunch time as smooth as possible by choosing first thing in the morning or last thing in the afternoon to speak with staff regarding your child, rather than around the 11.30 time, as this will be a busy time for staff. Thanking you for your understanding.
We encourage the children to enjoy messy sensory play as part of the learning environment, so please encourage your child to wear suitable clothing, and please pop a spare set of clothing in their bag for messy accidents from water, etc. We always encourage children to wear aprons, however spills can still get on clothing.
We are hoping for some lovely summer weather this term and the children enjoy their play outside, please apply suntan cream before they arrive for the session and supply a sunhat every day, as the weather often changes. If your child is here all day we can reapply after lunch if you provide your named suntan cream in your child’s bag.
As many of you are aware we had our Ofsted Inspection on Tuesday 14th March. We have a printed copy for you to read on the parent’s information table as you come in and there is a copy on the web page. We were delighted with the outcome from the inspection which was extremely positive and graded the nursery ‘Good’ overall.
Thank you for completing the parent questionnaires last term. Your feedback has been invaluable. We have also introduced a comments box for you to complete a slip for any suggestions that will help us to improve, so please feel free to fill one in.
We are introducing Makaton, a sign language used in settings and schools to support children’s communication, speech and language. Most of the staff have attended some initial training. It is the same sign language used in the CBeebies programme ‘Mr Tumble’ and has been proven to promote speech for all children in the EYFS.
We raised a fantastic £250 for the sponsored pancake races and £149 for the Easter Raffle and colouring competition. A really big ‘Thank you’ for donating the prizes, taking part in the colouring competition and supporting the raffle.
Fruit Snacks & Healthy Eating
We actively promote healthy eating in the nursery in line with schools and the Early Years Foundation Stage. We are asking that if you able to, please could you donate fruit or vegetables for the children to share at snack time, e.g. apples, oranges, bananas, plums, grapes, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, etc. Please bring a named water bottle with your child’s name which they can access anytime. Many thanks!
Thanking you for your continued support.
Sue, Amy and the team.
